Micro-blogging is now one of the most popular things to do on the phone, personal computer, and now on Xbox gaming console. With only a 140 characters to type, its plenty of room to type an “update status” but not enough to type an essay, which means this makes twitter an easy read. But is that all twitter can really do? Why is Twitter so important if it’s only about updating a person’s status? Facebook has videos, photos, applications, and the status feature…why Twitter?
As Twitter is becoming a custom to society, so is there API. TweetDeck, Tweetie, and DestroyTwitter are all applications and make “tweeting” a more pleasurable experience. Quickly go on a phone and send out a tweet or hop on the laptop to send out a quick status update on DestoryTwitter, without going directly to twitter.com. This is all so popular because of the convenience of twitter. Sure Facebook has an iPhone application, a mobile version of their website, and an extensive API but the interface just has so many options. Any person going on any of these extensions, will be spending about a minute looking at stuff and writing a status update. Twitter is simple, type, press post and it’s there. Read a tweet here and there; catch up on the people following… Twitter is not ever going to bring down Facebook because that website is mainly to connect a whole lives to the world verses Twitter is to connect real-time situations to the world. The nature of Twitter is “NOW”, the nature of Facebook is “What’s Up?”
The popularity of Twitter is so great, more and more developers are clinging to their API to connect it with their own business. A company might purposely leak some of their new product info so they use Twitter to fulfill that motive. An airline company might want to attract first time customers by offering extremely low “instant” tickets to help bridge a long term relationship with the customer. These are ideas that people are using on Twitter. For me though, I’m taking Twitter for a ride like no other.
Over the past 3 months, I have been conjuring ideas in how a massively used system can be used to communicate with other aspects of the Internet, like websites, video games, and news. Thinking to myself, all these are easily accessible at the comfort at my own home, why would I go through the trouble of doing such a thing? The answer is simply mobility. We’re in the world of “NOW”, impatient and thirsty of knowledge in the shortest amount of time. That’s how America is today. Kids all have mobile phones to communicate instead of calling from their home, a 15 minute delay on an airplane causes a mass crowd of “sighing”, and computers tend to be unnecessarily reset if it takes longer than 25 seconds to watch a YouTube video. These setbacks in life are not major, but they do become annoying when we should be in a life of demand with all this technology around us. It’s time to really take advantage of mobility applications and take it to it’s full extent. I plan on making several projects linking the aspect of mobility, to all corners of the web (without Safari).
Using Apache’s Cron Job and the concept of garbage collecting, I can create a website that obtains data and returns a result based on that data. For example using a browserless phone, I want to find out the weather tomorrow morning without going on weather.com because I’m on the train; I type in –FindWeather Tomorrow, within a minute I can receive a reply in how the weather will be the next day. Just enough time in between to check my tweets, text messages, and mail on my phone. Another concept is seeing who’s online in Facebook without going on Facebook. Like I stated before, going on Facebook directly will usually direct your full attention to there even if there’s nobody online. If I don’t want to waste my time loading for Facebook, I can just tweet my way in there to see who is online so if no one is online I won’t have to go onto Facebook. The situation there might seem trivial but its reality to most. If we can check up things without going through a “process”, the hassle of touching/clicking, or the interuption of “friend media”, gathering information from different corners all at the same time can be optimized. This is why I’m trying out this idea, to use Twitter to gather info all in a “any-format” display. These are just some of the ideas I’ll be testing in the upcoming months. I’ll keep a widget on my blog to show the progress of my new ideas.

I just thought it was time that I first thank you so much for the hard work and time you put into KSI Global Gaming Network.
The work we do makes millions of gamers happy every day.
Did you know that our audience is now over 17 million a week?
How is this in any way possible right?
Well I just read the analytics from our web sites and through voice recantation systems used on the XBOX 360 called Sync.
I hope everyone has heard of Microsoft Sync used in most new Ford vehicles.
Or I am sure you have had to when calling Xbox talked to MAX.
Sync is used on Xbox to gather Voice over IP key word optimization.
Now don’t get paranoid big brother is not after you the information is used for marketing statistics so that developers can use the research to target market gamers.
Sure there are a few words or as advanced as Sync is paragraphs you may not want to ever say but I’m sure none of you have any worries ever.
Let me break it down a bit more and most of you I hope will remember my quest to profile gamer’s information to match or redirect our members together by like mindedness.
I was gathering information for VOIP-SYNC-OPTIMIZATION.
You see that Face book and Twitter are coming onto the Xbox 360 system to make a more social networking friendly system.
Face book like most other social networks allows its members to create a profile or identity based on information provided at sign up.
As members start to give more detail like favorite music or book as an example the database analyzes this information through key word generation and tag optimization.
That information is then used to target market its members by their interest, age, race, geographic, and even down to their likeminded profile friends.
Face book has the most advanced mapping system of the social networks because the system was built for college students in the beginning.
The system breaks down key point questions so that the analytics can map its member’s way of thinking.
Web 2.0 technologies is more so using your profile to map what you want or like so that the internet comes to you not like the old days where you had to search for things.
Ever notice after adding a music video or player that the advertisements on your profile page are of the same nature or style of music that you have put in place.
If it is a music video then you may see what ever brands of clothes or products the music star has in the video pop up in your advertisement area.
This is called profile product target marketing or the old term in the TV world was branding.
Your social network identity helps you to add a fun MTV style or feeling by the information you provide on your profile.
Social networks are becoming with web 2.0 technologies the new way of searching but in reverse.
Your profile is doing the search and the internet comes to you, with this companies already are starting to compete for advertisement space to bring you the best price.
With Twitter using a new concept which is similar to a mobile phone text message that allows 140 characters to be sent to all of your followers and even having the option of getting the messages sent to your cell phone as your Twitter friends post on Twitter.
This has opened the door to a mass messaging ability that keeps members in touch at all times.
Because the system only allows 140 characters it has became the central system for your social network identity.
Here is where again profile analytics by the messages you type help advertisers target market you.
The advertisers add you on Twitter and start to fallow you gathering data that is then used to better target your interest.
Your keeping your followers updated on the things you do throughout your day which gives the analytics a more in depth view into your life style and how your mind works.
With the Twitter systems characters limit being only 140 like a text message you’re only allowed random thoughts or right to the point posting.
The big web 2.0 push at this point because the profiling phase is complete is also the technology boom of mobile phones.
Mobile Social Networking GPS Target Marketing
There is profile mapping systems in development that uses GPS to target market your online identity.
Advertisers have your profile, interest, random thoughts, and a full demographic idea of how you think; it is now time to use your geographic through GPS by way of your cell phone to start pushing advertisement by location.
An example is say your favorite brand of clothing is Armani Exchange which in most places is a specialty
brand that few stores sale.
As you approach a shopping area mapping analytics starts to pull data information from all stores in the area.
The data is then matched to your online social profile and a list of Armani Exchange merchandise is sent to your cell phone, GPS, Sync, radio, and other online in vehicle systems.

This is a really cool device. I tested it out when it was on exhibit locally, but it is not deserving the cost in my judgement. It runs Windows XP without a snag just the keyboard was a bit challenging to utilize.
